Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is considering sacking head coach Maurizio Sarri during the upcoming international break following Sunday’s 2-0 loss at the hands of struggling Everton.

The Blues dominated the first half at Goodison Park without finding a breakthrough, and they were made to pay after the break as goals from Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison put another significant dent in their top-four hopes.

Maurizio Sarri’s future came under intense scrutiny last month following a series of poor results and an extraordinary incident in the EFL Cup final when Kepa Arrizabalaga openly defied the manager’s attempts to take him off.

An upturn in performances lifted some of the pressure off Maurizio Sarri’s shoulders, but The Express claims that he is now back on the edge of losing his job due to the nature of their loss on Merseyside.

Roman Abramovich will use the international break to make the final decision on the former Napoli boss’ fate following a disappointing season at Stamford Bridge.

The FA Cup holders have made it into the quarter-finals of the Europa League, but have slipped down to sixth in the standings and remain four points adrift of the top four following the weekend’s result as the Blues had a chance of regaining the fourth place with Tottenham Hotspur also dramatically losing points in the final matches.

Chelsea’s primary goal is to win the Europa League or the Premier League giants face losing Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante to European rival clubs in the summer transfer window.
